Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo is seeking individuals and organizations to provide enrichment programs and services to elementary and secondary students who are participating in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) programs during Summer 2012 and the 2012-13 school year. Programs should address identified needs & interests in the areas of literacy, math, career exploration, social-emotional skills, science, and performing/visual arts.
CIS received a substantial reduction of our 21st CCLC grant award this year, which we do not anticipate being restored in the final two years of the grant. We are issuing this Request for Proposal with the goal of finding the best enrichment programs and services for our students to meet their identified needs and interests with the funds available, as well as ensuring that a broad array of organizations and individuals have the opportunity to submit a proposal to serve these students. We are looking for providers who are committed to serving this community’s students, even after the 21st CCLC grant concludes.
CIS plans to have decisions made regarding enrichment providers for the summer program by the end of May.
The summer program will operate June 25, 2012--August 2, 2012. It is a Monday through Thursday program and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Elementary students have two opportunities to participate in enrichment activities:
- 10:20 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
- 1:15 p.m. to 2:10 p.m.
Students are scheduled to be on a field trip on Thursdays.
Secondary students have at least one opportunity to participate in enrichment activities:
