Communities In Schools of Michigan, established in the fall of 2011, operates out of Lansing, MI. As the state headquarters for the Communities In Schools network in Michigan, our state office supports local affiliate efforts and is building partnerships with Michigan counties to set up local 501(c)(3) nonprofits, called Communities In Schools affiliates. Including Kalamazoo, Michigan has five Communities In Schools affiliates (listed below). Like all CIS affiliates, our core functions include: developing community partnerships; resource development and fundraising, marketing and public relations; managing and developing CIS sites; ensuring the provision and/or brokering of quality youth programming and services; and data collection, evaluation, and reporting. It is the local affiliate, through the Site Coordinator, that is ultimately responsible for the implementation of the CIS model of Integrated Student Services within a school.
