 Make the Promise to Volunteer Minimize
Volunteers are the backbone of our community. Quality one-on-one time with a student can be the difference between students achieving in school and life, or dropping out of school entirely. Teachers can identify the needs of students, but time is a premium. Help make Kalamazoo the "education community" by working with a student this year!

Volunteer with Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo.

 

Special Events: Publishing Center assistance; Bagels and Books; College Awareness Week; Help with office mailings.

Guys Read: Men or women needed to read books and facilitate discussion with groups of boys and girls. Groups of 6-8 boys and girls located at Lincoln International Studies School or King-Westwood Elementary. Groups generally meet weekly. Leaders would also join boys and girls in an online "blog".

Help in a Classroom: Work in a classroom with a small group of children so the teacher can work with the children who need more assistance.

Lunch & Learn: Activities to do with a small group of children during lunch periods such as playing games, telling stories, playing math-based hopscotch, and teaching children crafts.

Tutoring Opportunities: One-on-one with a child who is a grade level below the level he/she should be in academically.Support our children in KPS schools by committing to at least one hour a week for the academic year. One hour a week. One child. One life changed.

Mentoring: Be a friend to a student, change his/her life forever.
